Deep Basin, In the ICW now

Deep Creek Basin, Start of the Dismal Swamp

Well.....we haven't made it very far.  First, we didn’t get out of bed until 10:30am and only got up because no one had yet delivered breakfast in bed to us, so we had to make it ourselves.  Bob made pancakes!  Right now we are sitting in Deep Creek Basin just a hair south of Norfolk, Virginia watching the pitter patter of raindrops hit the water...and a fisherman in foul weather gear standing in his open boat.  He's been there at least four hours surrounded by 5 bobbers, casting with rod #6, and we haven't seen him even get a nibble.

Fisherman

Inside
We are sitting in a nice dry living salon, Bob covered with a blanket and feet up on the back of the couch, me with wool socks and a sweatshirt at the table typing on the laptop, both of us with a hot drink.  Can't think of a single reason why I would be out there standing in the rain.  Guess that is why we are not fisherman.

Outside

The two sailboats which were rafted up when we arrived yesterday left this AM.  The one that came in later last night has had no sign of life.

Today we decided to stay put in this anchorage because  1) It's free, 2) It's raining, 3) We are at the edge of the Dismal Swamp National Park which we would like to see and who wants to see it in the rain?  Tomorrow will be sunny.  The weather app on my phone promised.
